The Dutch fish industry in facts and figures

The Dutch Seafood Industry generated a total revenue of around 4 billion euro and about 6200 fulltime jobs. This concerns approximately 300 companies in The Netherlands.

Locations in the Netherlands

The Dutch Seafood Industry is mainly located in places like Urk, IJmuiden and Den Haag (The Hague)/Scheveningen/Katwijk, regions for fish processing and trade. The crustacean industry is mainly concentrated around Yerseke (Zeeland province). A number of companies are located in the area of the Port of Rotterdam and Schiphol (Amsterdam Airport). Approximately half of the processing takes place on the premises of the company. A quarter takes places at (affiliated) Dutch companies. The remainder of the processing activities are done abroad.
